The team folds permafrost carbon dioxide and methane emissions into temperature paths for idealized stabilization and overshoot scenarios, then runs those temperatures through a conceptual network of interacting tipping elements.

What Makes It Strange
The network includes the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets, the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, and the Amazon rainforest.
