The Prison of Language
The Prison of Language — an exploration from JitterSnap's Hidden Constructs collection.
The Signal
Words we live in them, think in them, are trapped by them.. You believe you're having original thoughts, but those thoughts come in a language, and that language was given to you..
The Discovery
You didn't create it, you inherited it, a tool, a framework, a limiter... The limits of my language mean the limits of my world... Ludwig Wittgenstein... Every word you use contains a category, a bias, a pre-approved way to perceive reality... There's no word in English for the feeling of being watched by the sky... No word for the terror of memory returning too fast... So you don't feel those things, because you don't have the vocabulary... Language is the OS of the mind, and the system you run was written by someone else... Whoever controls the language controls the mind... George Orwell... In some esoteric systems, the fall of man wasn't about sin, it was about words... The moment we name things, tree, time, you, me, we shattered the whole..
The Unfolding
Before language, we felt everything at once... Now we filtered, sort, box, forget... We speak in linear thoughts in a non-linear world... And worst of all, we believe that words equal sign truth... That saying, I understand, means you do... That giving something a name means you know it... You don't... You've just filed it... So what happens when you think outside the language?.. When you feel something you can't describe?.. When a symbol moves you more than a sentence ever could, that's the edge... That's where the lock starts to break, because you were never meant to speak..
The Question
You were meant to resonate, Feel more.
