The Tomb That Shouldn't Exist

The Tomb That Shouldn't Exist — an exploration from JitterSnap's Mystery Atlas collection.

The Signal

In the cliffs west of the Nile, buried deeper than any guidebook dares mention, lies a tomb the Egyptian government barely acknowledges..

Ancient Echoes

No hieroglyphs, no pharaohs name, no gods on the walls, only warnings... Discovered in 1990, then quietly covered up, inside were impossible objects, a map of star systems never recorded in Egyptian cosmology, and carvings that predate the pyramids by millennia..

The Unfolding

The carbon dating, wrong, the stone said to be older than 12,000 years, the tools that made it, unknown... But the most disturbing discovery, the body, wrapped in a linen that didn't match any Egyptian weave, and DNA that registered as non-local, a faint figure inside, three fingers, elongated skull, teeth too perfect... When a second team tried to open the inner chamber, instruments stopped working, batteries drained, one researcher collapsed, describing visions of a past that wasn't hers, the lights blow out... Then the tomb was sealed again, official story, nothing of interest found... But files leaked online showed internal memos from foreign agencies, one line repeated across multiple languages, if it opens, it remembers... So what was the tomb hiding, who was buried there, or what were they protecting the world from?.

The Question

And most of all, why did the tomb seem afraid to be opened?
